The principal of New York City’s tiny Trinity Middle School told parents that he couldn’t be sure whether Hamas was a “terrorist organization” — and that he wanted it to be a judgment call for the kids.
Jason Ford, who has worked at the $64,000 a year private school since 2017, made the remarks during a Q&A session with parents last month.
“Are you clear with the kids that Hamas is a terrorist organization. You mentioned they’re a group,” said one unnamed parent in a recording obtained by The Post.
Ford responded that “language is important. I have talked to them and said there are ways in which Hamas is viewed as a terrorist organization, part of it is I want it to be the case that they get to make their own conclusions.”
The moment passed without incident at the time, but rankled some parents who tuned in remotely.
“This isn’t a close call,” said one frustrated parent.
A rep for the school said that Trinity had “been clear in its condemnation of Hamas and the attacks of October 7, 2023.”
They did not respond to whether they would also allow students a similarly interpretive range for ISIS or Al-Qaeda.
Ford did not respond to request for comment from The Post.
