CSPGNO confident appointees ‘will play key role in ensuring quality education’

The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is announcing the appointment of new principals and assignment changes for the 2023-24 school year.

Noelle Gauthier, who has worked in the field of education for many years, will be heading to Jean-Ethier-Blais public school in New Sudbury as principal.
“Always on the lookout for new ideas and passionate about pedagogy, Gauthier puts her love of learning to the forefront and draws on her resources to offer development tools and winning strategies to help students reach their full potential,” the board said in a release. “Thanks to her commitment and contagious energy, Gauthier will be able to put her skills and knowledge to good use and build strong ties with students, parents and the school community.
Jocelyne Schiewek will take on new challenges as director of Student Services. Since joining the the Grand Nord board, Schiewek has served in many capacities, including teacher, educational consultant, literacy and numeracy coach and interim principal at Decouverte, Foyer Jeunesse, Jean-Ethier-Blais and Helene-Gravel (the position she currently holds).

“Her many years of experience and positive energy will enable her to take up this new challenge with confidence,” the board said.
Lyse Bourre will now hold the position of vice-principal at Macdonald-Cartier.
Bourre has an “outstanding track record in the French-language educational community,” said the board.
She has held the positions of teacher, literacy coach, educational consultant in literacy, numeracy and special education, and interim vice-principal at Macdonald-Cartier (her current position).
“Attentive to the needs of each child, Bourre’s expertise and dynamism will ensure a school environment conducive to the success of every student,” the board said.
Darquise Lapalme is confirmed as principal of Riviere-des-Francais, a position she has held on an interim basis since last October.

She has served as teacher, literacy coach and interim principal at Pavillon-de-l’Avenir, Camille-Perron and Riviere-des-Francais.
“A stimulating and reliable educator, Lapalme knows how to instil confidence in students so that they succeed,” according to CSPGNO. “Her tireless dedication to her students will enable her to continue her work and build strong ties with the entire school community.”
These principals “have extensive knowledge of the educational environment and are familiar with the needs of the students and their respective communities,” the board said. “With their leadership abilities, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord is certain that they will play a key role in ensuring quality education that fosters the full development of all the students.”
