PWCS names Stephanie Bretzke acting principal at Independence Nontraditional School
PWCS has named Stephanie Bretzke, assistant principal at Patriot High School, as acting principal of Independence Nontraditional School, effective immediately.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Christopher Newport University, Bretzke began teaching science at Denbigh High School, and then Menchville High School, both in Newport News Public Schools. She began her administrative career as an administrative intern at Menchville High School before being named assistant principal at Poquoson High School.
Bretzke came to Prince William County Public Schools in 2012. In addition to serving as assistant principal at Patriot High, she served three summers as the high school summer school principal and served two years as the middle school and high school summer school lead.
She received a master’s degree in administration and is completing a doctorate degree in educational leadership and policy studies from The George Washington University.
