SD78 welcomes Inclusive Education vice principal – Hope Standard - Hope Standard

After 30 years of service, Inclusive Education Department coordinator Donna Barner is retiring.

She began work with the Fraser-Cascade School District a speech and language pathologist before ultimately moving up to her position as Inclusive Education Department head.

“Donna has devoted 30 years to supporting our staff and students and has been a provincial leader for equity and inclusion in British Columbia,” stated Superintendent Balan Moorthy. “We will miss Donna and wish her well in her retirement.”

Glenda Gaudette will be the new vice principal for Inclusive Education.

“Glenda has worked hard at creating safe spaces and ensuring equitable experiences within classroom, schools and the community,” Moorthy wrote.

Gaudette’s work spans not only SD78 but Chilliwack School District 33 as well, where she was among other positions the district team leader of Inclusive Education, the acting vice-principal, department head of student services and Indigenous education teacher at Sardis Secondary School. She was SD33’s district co-ordinator for student services in addition to serving as an instructor at the SEA training program at Seabird College.
