SD-A's Farley earns principal of the year honor – Syracuse Journal-Democrat - Syracuse Journal-Democrat

Before school starts at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Middle School, there are certain sounds associated with students convening in the gym as they await the Pledge of Allegiance and dismissal for class. On Tuesday, April 19th, the sound of students chanting “Mr. Farley” could be heard far and wide.

SDA Middle School Principal, Mr. Tim Farley, entered the gym to this congratulatory chant. Students in fourth through eighth grade joined the sixth grade band to acknowledge Mr. Farley being named the 2021-2022 Region 1 Middle School Principal of the Year. The award comes from the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals

Superintendent Mr. David Kraus compiled information for the application that included endorsements from teachers and students and submitted it. Mr. Farley was presented the award at a meeting of the Association on April 12, 2022.

Here are a few comments from the nomination.

One student said, “Mr. Farley is super friendly and caring. He always smiles and greets you when he sees you. He is very forgiving and understanding. He always gives kids second chances when they make a mistake and listens to your point of view.”

A common theme among the testimonials were about Mr. Farley’s positivity, his drive and his ability to build and nurture relationships with students and staff. A teacher provided this statement for the nomination, “Syracuse Middle School hit the jackpot when Mr. Tim Farley became principal. Mr. Farley builds character, inspires dreams, encourages creativity, builds confidence and changes the lives of those around him. He creates an environment for our teachers and students to learn and succeed. When you see him in the halls, his high-energy attitude pulls you in and brightens your day.”

Another teacher said, “Mr. Tim Farley is the true definition of a servant leader. He works hard around the clock to make sure all staff and students are put first and truly wants the best for everyone. He will always greet you in the hallway and always has a smile on his face no matter what is going on behind the scenes. Syracuse Middle School is so lucky to have a leader like Mr. Farley. His impact on this community will continue for years to come.”

Mr. Farley is a Syracuse alum who started his career as a physical education teacher in Lincoln in 1992. He has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Education in Educational Administration. He became the SDA Middle School Principal in 2014.

Mr. Farley reminded students and staff that “Every day is a great day to be a Rocket!” graciously acknowledging his award and giving credit to staff and students.

Region I is a 16 county area. The Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals is affiliated with the Nebraska Council of School Administrators and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. of the fire, semis loaded with water tanks, and our volunteers family members bringing drinking water and supplies while their families fought the fire,” Briley continued. “I can’t say enough about this community as a whole.”
