KCDSB announces additional vice-principal for St. Thomas Aquinas - DrydenNow.com

A new vice-principal will be joining the St. Thomas Aquinas administration team! 

The Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) announced that teacher Erin Hercun will start in her new position, alongside Principal Kylie Hughes and Vice-Principal Mark Richards, effective January 31, 2022.  

Erin Hercun has been teaching at St. Thomas Aquinas for over 13 years, specifically, Erin has taught French immersion and has acted as the area chair for the guidance department. She has mentored new employees and has been a substitute administrator for the past four years.  

“I am very excited to welcome Erin as an additional Vice-Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas High School,” said Principal Kylie Hughes.  

“She is a dedicated and valued Catholic leader who works hard to build positive relationships with students, staff, families and the entire school community. Her teaching experience, various leadership roles, along with her recent years as a guidance teacher and substitute administrator, will help provide a seamless transition,” she continued.  

Hercun completed her Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University with a major in French. She has since gained Principal qualifications, Religious Education Specialist qualifications and Guidance and Career Education Specialist qualifications. 

“From the moment you walk through the doors at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, you can feel that it’s more than just a school,” said Hercun 

She continued, “It’s a community of caring and passionate educators and students who work hard to lift each other up and encourage one another to do their best. I am honoured to serve the school in this new role.”  

Hercun said that her main goals are eliminating barriers, striving for equity, providing support and encouraging students to reach their goals.  

Paul White, Director of Education shared, “On behalf of the senior leadership team, we extend congratulations to Erin Hercun in this new vocation. She has contributed to the success and excellence that St. Thomas Aquinas High School is well known for and is a respected member of the school community.”
