FRAMINGHAM – “Late this afternoon we were made aware of a concerning social media post that is being investigated as a threat. This matter is currently under investigation and we are working with the Framingham Police Department to ensure the safety and security of our school community,” wrote Walsh Middle School Principal to parents this evening, October 8.
SOURCE reached out to police for additional information on the social media post and what type of threat.
SOURCE has learned the threat did not specifically mention Walsh Middle School nor any specific students, but was distributed in a social media circle that Walsh students could be connected with.
There is the possibility this threat did not originate in Framingham, but it is still being investigated by police, and under an abundance of caution the district issued the email.
The middle school principal requested families:
- Monitor your child’s social media accounts.
- If you or your child come across any threats or concerning content, do not forward it. We want to avoid causing panic and spreading misinformation.
- If they see something, say something. Report anything suspicious immediately.
- Remind your child that threats have consequences.
“Most of these types of social media posts are unfounded, but we are being proactive and transparent with what we know at this time,” wrote Principal Johnson.
