Ysmael Lujan, associate principal of Permian High School in ECISD has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as a Region 18 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year.
TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the twenty region Education Service Centers in the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership, a news release detailed.
As a Region 18 winner, Lujan is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year.
“Mr. Lujan works tirelessly as Permian High School’s associate principal of operations to ensure the campus is safe, clean, and properly maintained,” Permian High School Principal Delesa Styles said in the release. “He is quick to roll up his sleeves to assist the staff with any maintenance and operations requests they may have. Ensuring that a comprehensive 6-A high school campus is fully operational on any given day is a tall order, and Mr. Lujan sincerely strives to keep the many moving parts of Permian High School in sync every day.”
Lujan has being a member of the leadership team at Permian High School since 2010. He attended Sul Ross State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree and was awarded a master of education in education.
The release says Lujan sees himself as being a worker, a motivator and leader of learners. To name a few, he is credited with other achievements such as Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and the 2013 Don Quixote Outstanding Hispanic Educator of the Year.
Each of the region winners will be recognized during the Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the TASSP Summer held each year in June in Austin. Each will be presented with an award and recognized in a commemorative book entitled Texas Principals, Texas Heroes.
