Jordan Kolbeck is settling into his new role as a superintendent of education for Northern Lights School Division (NLSD).

Kolbeck spent 13 years as a principal at St. Pascal Community School in Green Lake, before applying for the superintendent of education position this summer with the support of his family and colleagues. The school division announced he was selected for the role in August and he has since been busy learning his new responsibilities.

“I felt that now would be a good opportunity to serve my community and other communities in the North in a different capacity,” he wrote in an email to larongeNOW. “I was also interested in learning more about the role — and what better way to learn than by doing? The superintendency is based out of the Beauval sub-office, but as you can imagine, involves a lot of travelling.”

In all, Kolbeck is responsible for six schools including Jan’s Bay Community School, Lakeview School in Cole Bay, Valley View Community School in Beauval, St. Pascal Community School in Green Lake, along with Minahik Waskahigan Elementary School and Minahik Waskahigan High School, both located in Pinehouse Lake.
