Brookfield High principal on temporary leave of absence - Danbury News Times

BROOKFIELD — High School Principal Marc Balanda is taking a temporary leave of absence as of Monday, Oct. 18.

Balanda sent an email to Brookfield High School parents Monday morning announcing the decision.

“Effective immediately, for personal reasons, I will be taking a short-term leave from Brookfield High School,” the email read.

Jules Scheithe, the high school’s assistant principal, will serve as acting principal during Balanda’s time off, according to the email.

“She has previous experience as an acting Principal and will work closely with Mrs. Griffin to maintain continuity,” Balanda wrote.

Superintendent John Barile did not divulge any further details to Hearst Connecticut, except to confirm that Balanda is on leave and that Scheithe would be serving as interim principal. He clarified that Balanda’s leave of absence was not disciplinary in nature.

In his email, Balanda said that he would not be regularly checking his school email, but to reach out to the main office or building administration in his absence.

Neither Balanda nor Scheithe could be reached for comment Monday afternoon.

Balanda has served as principal since 2015, when he moved over to Brookfield High School from his previous position as assistant principal at New Milford High School.
