When it opens, it is expected that Wareham Elementary School will have only one principal.
During an Aug. 5 School Committee meeting, Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood said she planned to recommend a one-principal approach — reversing a plan for two principals that had been discussed in June.
Shaver-Hood said she’d been discussing the plan to consolidate to a single principal with John W. Decas Elementary School Principal Bethany Chandler, Minot Forest Elementary School Principal Joan Seamans and other school personnel.
It was not announced who the principal would be, but Shaver-Hood said the Wareham Elementary School principal will be announced “in a very short time.”
“The other principal will be moving into central office,” she explained. “We have a number of duties that need to be taken care of, [...] we have some oversight that needs to be done —and so that will be the role of the other principal.”
