Musical Moment: Listen to TSO Violin Clare Semes and Principal Flute Kelly Zimba play Pachelbel’s infamous Canon in D while shopping for wedding dresses - Toronto Star

TSO friends Principal Flute Kelly Zimba and Violin Clare Semes have kept very busy over the last 16 months. In addition to playing online concerts and events with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, they’ve also formed a flute/violin duo called Sonority Sisters, playing pop-up concerts all over Toronto. And finally, after having to reschedule their respective weddings many times, are now able to star planning their nuptials.

Last week they decided to try on some dresses at their favourite bridal boutique, LoversLand, and took the opportunity to play a wedding ceremony favourite—Pachelbel’s Canon in D—as their Musical Moment in the delightful shop. Like all TSO musicians, they look forward to getting back onstage for in-person concerts in the fall, but they’re most excited about finally getting married.

Musical Moment, produced by the TSO and the Star, features musicians recording themselves live at home, performing pieces no longer than three minutes. The new video will be posted every Thursday at thestar.com/musicalmoments.
