Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon has announced the appointment of Julie Lamoureux as principal at Ecole Ste. Therese in Val Therese, starting on Aug. 18.
Working in the field of education since 1999 Lamoureux has accumulated relevant experience in various French-language Catholic schools of the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir board in Whitby, Barrie and Penetanguishene.
With a specialization in mathematics and science, she was responsible for planning and facilitating numeracy interventions within the CSC MonAvenir. Lamoureux, who has held the position of principal at Ecole catholique Saint Louis in Penetanguishene since September 2019, also served as vice-principal at Ecole catholique Frere Andre in Barrie) from 2015 to 2019.
A former Elliot Lake resident, she completed some of her post-secondary education at Laurentian University.
“Ms. Lamoureux’s knowledge and experience within Francophone schools, as well as her ties with Northern Ontario, will make her a great asset in her school,” said Paul Henry, director of education at CSC Nouvelon. “Our principals and vice-principals play a key role in our Catholic professional learning community. We greatly value the capabilities and leadership skills that enable them to engage our students and staff in achieving their full potential.”
The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic education program hat runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 6,400 students enrolled in 27 elementary, one virtual school and 10 secondary schools.
